Hi, I’m Lexi. I’m 17 and I write songs about my life, love in particular. I’ve never been in love, but I’ve always been fascinated with it. I’ve written songs since I was about 10, but it all truly began when I was a freshman in high school and had a crush on the senior football star. I wasn’t entirely sure what to do about it, so I started coming home and writing songs about trivial things…like his girlfriend. It then progressed into something that I constantly had to be doing, I could barely hold conversations without having a million ideas bouncing around in my head.
So from then on, writing songs was how I processed any situation I was going through. I’ve written about heartbreak, family, meeting someone that gives you butterflies, the idiot that thinks you’ll take him back after he cheated on you, just to name a few (;
So in the summer of 2012, I was lucky enough to get signed by a company called KALM Music Group as their feature artist after they saw a video of mine on YouTube. I was flown out to meet the CEO and Founder, Kerry Kessel, as soon as I’d signed my contract, and we began working on selecting songs for my debut album.
I worked in a studio in LA for three months with producer Frank Rosato perfecting the songs that reflected my high school years. I had the experience of a lifetime working with musical geniuses such as Tim Pierce, Gregg Bissonette and Gabriel Moses. Growing up, I always dreamed that my first released CD would be self titled, because to me it seemed like the perfect introduction of an individual artist into the industry.
I am so proud of what I accomplished in the studio. When you listen to these self-written songs, you truly hear what it sounded like to me when I was walking into my freshman english class being instantly infatuated with a boy who didn’t even know my name yet which became “The Day That I Met You.”
Or when I was a sophomore and for the first time lost somebody who said they wouldn’t leave, I wrote an indirect letter which eventually became “Dear Love.” My favorite is a feisty song I wrote as a junior after my on-again off-again boyfriend cheated on me and blamed everybody but himself. He thought I would be foolish enough to forget about it, but that was the final straw for me and I wrote “Get Over It.”
So I hope you relate to these songs and enjoy them as much as I’ve enjoyed writing and recording them!
Thank you so much to my friends, family and followers for your support! A special thank you to the boys who inspired these songs. Without you, I would be sitting in my room with writer’s block. You should’ve known (;
